A Grand Workshop

Recently I was lucky enough to run a workshop at the Glynn Vivian Gallery in Swansea, this is the most wonderful place, fantastic atmosphere and my thanks go to Tom who organised the workshop and was such a help.
The days course was on the known last words of St David "do the little things" I loved the fact that it is the little things that can make a difference, seeing the first flower in the garden after the long winter, and like this morning seeing the pair of swallows had made it to the house again this year.
So back to the day! Each student and there were about 20 had to think of a single little thing that held significance to them, some were easy, a big cup cake (we can all relate to that) an initial of some one significant, a vase of brilliant daffodils, a green and woody heart, even a line of bunting for a celebration?
The workshop was help in one of the galleries, so added excitement of being amongst works of art I am sure inspired the students, as well as the wonderful Bara Brith and Welsh cakes supplied by one of the students!
I brought boxes of fabric for everyone to delve into and even the non stitchers were able to complete a picture in the day. I had a chance to see some of the galleries during lunch, wonderful exciting stuff, if you are ever in Swansea I am sure you should have a look.

getting started

Well a first post is quite a challenge, I spend my days making, teaching and writing all about textiles, embroidery, patchwork, quilting, dyeing even a little weaving and spinning if time allows. From home in West Wales shared with Andrew the best beloved and animals. A life rich in colour and texture, I am looking forward to sharing it with you.
This month I appear as 'quilter of the month' in British patchwork & Quilting magazine, my thanks to Judi for making me sound interesing and maybe just a tad eccentric!
